TrueNAS should have been mentioned in the last video as they do sell hardware appliances (IX Systems) but I’m mentioning it here because you can install TrueNAS on your own hardware too. Here’s a list (I’m sure there are things missing) of roll your own NAS software distros. Besides these you can also use straight up Linux, BSD, or even a Raspberry Pi to create your own NAS if you like to tinker.
