In this video we go over using a layer 2 device to create VLANs to segregate your production and public WiFi networks.
Having a L2 split can help keep your production network even more shielded from your guests because there is no device routing between the networks.
Previously I was going to use a D-Link DGS 1108 to accomplish this, but since EdgeOS/EdgeMAX 1.9 now has the Switch Wizard I will start using the EdgeRouter X for this.
I’ll show you how to create the Public WiFi Network for VLAN 2 in the UniFi Controller too!
In the last video coming this week we’ll wrap up and do a full install based on this method and a full UniFi stack setup as well!
